There are many options for trekking near Mumbai and one can choose from them which are being organized in the coming months.
Trek to Mahuli Fort: this is a perfect weekend trek which starts in 15th July which is a Saturday and ends on 16th July which is a Sunday. This trek is being organized by the ‘Small Steps Adventures’ and if one is interested in going to this trek, then they can book this for Rs 850. This is a hill fort which has a height of 2815 feet above sea level and those who want to go to trek for the first time, this one is absolutely perfect for them. The base village is Mahuli from where the trek will begin. The creator of this fort still remains unknown but according to history, around 1485 this for came under the rule of Nizam Shahi. Later in the year 1658, this fort was won by Shivaji Maharaj from the Mughals. It is during the British rule; the fort came under the control of the rulers. This is actually a historic place with thrilling stories in account. One has to take this trek to know more. The trek cost includes the transportation cost, dinner, morning breakfast and tea.
Trek to One Tree Hill, Matheran: This one is supposed to take place on 30th July from 8 AM in the morning till 5 PM in the evening. This one is organized by the ‘Small Steps Adventure’ and one has to book their seats by paying Rs 800. This One Tree Hill is a rare trek which is very close to the city but yet untouched from the crowd and is very serene. This one can be done at any season and by trekkers of all age groups. There is a thick forest at the middle of the trek trail and at the end one will find a lot of boulders and rocks which are known as Shivaji Ladders. There is a stream bed at the top which remains dry all the year except monsoon and that is why; people recommend this trek mostly in monsoon. One will start at 8 in the morning and reach the base village by 9.15 AM. Post breakfast the trek will begin and will end by 5 PM.
Lonavla and Alibaug: This one starts on 12th August and ends on 15th August. One has to register their place for this trek and need to pay an amount of Rs 9500. As drizzling rain and showers have started, it is the perfect time for the regular trekkers to embrace the nature. This trek will take one to the abode of flowers, waterfalls and dense green forests. The duration of this trek is for 4 days and three nights. The difficulty level of this trek is moderate and thus this one is not for the beginners. The trek includes Lohagad, Korigad Fort, Tikona Fort and Alibagh beaches.
